POSITIVE MUSIC
By Mechelle Tucker
Many musical categories today often convey certain messages and themes. Pop music speaks of sex. Rock music shouts defiance. Country aches of heartbreak. Rap music often expresses anger. Blues communicates hard times.
There is a new message of music that is emerging that includes all these styles but it has a different message and energy.
It's called Positive Music.
Songs with positive messages are becoming more popular across the airwaves. Millions of Americans already listen to some form of music that could be categorized as "positive" – New Age, Inspiring/Motivational, Ambient, Gospel, Smooth Jazz, New Thought, Political.
Positive music celebrates and embraces life. It's music to appreciate. All with the desire to spread a message of peace, love, and unity while attracting more positive energy into one's life.
There is such a strong need in America for more positive outlets for music/media. Today, that excuse is no longer valid, Positive Artists are coming out more often and their styles and topics are diverse and broad ranging.
Music should be fun and entertaining for both kids and adults alike!
Matthew Knowles, father of Grammy award winning Beyonce Knowles, has announced that he is starting a kid friendly Hip Hop radio station in Texas. Master P, Hip Hop artist of New Orleans and Father of Nickelodeon's Lil' Romeo, has started a clean record label as he has also put his bids in, to assist with cleaning up the music industry.
Arizona Hip Hop Artist "Baby T" has been promoting positive music since she started dancing and singing at age 2 & then gained experience on how to handle the microphone and do overdubs by age 3. By age 5, she had recorded her 1st single (I Got Dis), while continuing on to accomplish a complete album. Baby T, now age 9 has continued her quest to stop gang violence and promote education and positive music through her KYDS Foundation that she owns and is the spokesperson for.
